We are consulting on some amendments to our West Midlands Interchange proposals for a rail freight interchange.
Stage 2a Consultation
Two previous consultations have taken place so far, Stage One in mid-2016 and the Stage Two statutory consultation in the middle of 2017.
This further focused consultation (Stage 2a Consultation) is being undertaken to reflect specific amendments which have been made to the plans since the Stage Two consultation.
Amendment 1: Proposed Order limits to the north of the A5 Trunk Road
After further discussions with the utility provider, it has been decided that additional land is needed to the north of the A5.
The affected area is the triangle of land identified on the plans, which is required for temporary works and access whilst underground electrical works take place.
These undergrounding works have been part of the proposals from the outset, but only recently has the precise area of land required been identified.
Amendment 2: Proposed Calf Heath Community Park
As a result of the previous consultations, we are now proposing to increase the area of the Calf Heath Community Park, which will bring the following advantages:
- It improves the connectivity and accessibility of the proposed Community Park by extending the boundaries and thus offers a more cohesive and connected park; and
- The additional land offers opportunities to enhance further the canal side environment and would be beneficial in landscape and visual terms.
The environmental impact of the additional land being incorporated into the Community Park are all anticipated to be beneficial and will be fully assessed in the environmental statement to be submitted with the application.
Updated plans for both amendments are available in the Document Library under the Stage 2a heading.
